The Beijing Aizhixing Institute works in four primary program areas:
Education
The Education Program conducts community education and outreach, working primarily with HIV/AIDS patients, MSM/LGBT groups, drug users, sex workers, migrants and their children, and ethnic minorities (including Uyghurs, Yi) living in urban centers. The program also cooperates with other national and international organizations to develop new education and outreach initiatives.
Legal Aid
The Legal Aid Program provides legal assistance and representation on cases involving people living with HIV/AIDS. The program also hosts an AIDS legal hotline and advocates for the implementation of international HIV/AIDS policies in China.
Research
The Research Program partners with academic institutions to conduct social science research on affected communities. Research typically focuses on individual and community behavior, public health, living conditions, and human rights violations. Additionally, the program carries out studies of media bias and other forms of systemic discrimination.
Policy
The Policy Program aims to promote a better legal and policy environment for people living with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS in China. Our work consists of civil monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS related government policies and practices, and advocacy for nondiscriminatory policies. We also promote the participation of local and regional NGOs in the China HIV/AIDS Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism.
